My summer night-time walk continues. Next destination was Enoshima Island in Kanagawa Prefecture.
As I posted before, Enoshima Island is a famous sightseeing spot in the metropolitan area. It is located about 60 kilometers southwest of the city center of Tokyo. One of the popular events on the island is the Enoshima Lanterns Festival. Visitors can see many lanterns on streets, parks and shrines. I went to this seasonal festival for the first time in 8 years. After strolling around the island, I climbed Enoshima Sea Candle (Enoshima Observation Lighthouse), and enjoyed the bird’s eye view of the lantern festival (see the photo below).
I can't just end it here, as this is a railway blog. To get to Enoshima Island, the nearest railway station is Katase-Enoshima terminal on the Odakyu-Enoshima line. Before going to the island, I enjoyed train shooting near the station. My target was the EMU Odakyu 30000 series, Romancecar EXE (Excellent Express). As I posted before, EXE is the first multipurpose Romancecar commissioned in 1996. Since one trainset can be broken up into six and four car sections to enhance operational flexibility.
This time, I shot a 4-car-EXE trainset led by a stream-lined front car. It’s difficult to select the shooting spot, if I prefer to shoot it in front light condition. Fortunately, I still remembered my shooting spot taking the EMU 60000 series in March, so I could take it (see the top photo). As a trainspotter, I stick to select my target, which I haven’t shot yet. You too, right?
