130th Anniversary of Kawagoe Railway

Trainset 2085 of the EMU Seibu 2000N series displays a special memorial sticker

Do you remember when I posted that Seibu Railway cerebrated the 130th anniversary of Kawagoe Railway? I’m going to update this topic today.

Let's take a quick look at Kawagoe Railway to start. It’s one of predecessors of present Seibu Railway. Part of the Seibu-Shinjuku and Kokubunji lines were originally opened by Kawagoe Railway in 1895. Kawagoe Railway merged with Musashino Railway in 1945, and was reborn as Seibu Railway in 1946. There are 6 cities, namely Kawagoe, Higashi-Murayama, Tokorozawa, Sayama, Kodaira and Kokubunji, on the ex-Kawagoe Railway line.

One of the 100th anniversary events is displaying special memorial stickers on the front of the EMU 2000N series. They were designed by local people, and selected by the above 6 cities. Please look at the top photo. The rounded sticker displaying on Trainset 2085 was designed by a person residing in Higashi-Murayama City. You can see symbols of the city. They are White Wagtail, Azalea, Zelkova and fruits. Colorful and beautiful! Next, please look at the photo below. This sticker displaying on Trainset 2079 was designed by a child residing in Tokorozawa City. You can see symbols of the city. They are Tokorozawa Aviation Memorial Park, an official city mascot “Tokoron” and a train. As a rail-fan, I'm happy that the yellow-colored Seibu train (the EMU 2000N or 9000 series) is painted.

Please refer to the URL at the bottom of this post, if you have time. You can observe 6 designs of the memorial stickers. Congratulations on the 130th anniversary of Kawagoe Railway!
